The QA/QC department are involved in the process from when products are approved from suppliers to providing internal support to ensure the goods we purchase and deliver meet our and our customer quality based requirements.
We believe this approach allows to provide excellent technical support to our customers before and after they purchase goods through us.

We approve our suppliers and will audit them to ensure they continue to meet our requirements.

When we audit suppliers we make detailed checks as regards their procedures which include the following areas

All products we sell have to go through an approval process to ensure any products we supply meet any necessary legislation. Below are some areas which we cover

  • Product Origin

  • Solvents used in manufacturing
  • Heavy Metal levels (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury & Arsenic)
  • BSE/TSE Status

  • Relevant EU regulations pertaining to Residual solvents, Dioxins, Pesticides, BaP

We hold specifications for all our products to enable us to provide consistency in the information we supply on our products.

 

Warehouse Storage and Control Procedures

We provide processes to enable our warehouse to input, store and despatch goods in the correct manner.We operate a SAP computer system which allows full tracking, traceability and movements of stock. Each item is identified by a unique batch number so the full traceability of our products is complete.


Before goods can be entered onto our system we do checks to ensure we have the correct product. Goods are then placed in 'Holding Location' where they can be seen on our system, but cannot be linked to outgoing orders. The goods have to pass a number of checks to enable them to show as free stock. Some of the checks include:

  • Free from damage
  • Packaging in good condition
  • PSL Negative (if earmarked for testing)
  • Availability of GL checked C of A
  • Second check to ensure we have the correct product and quantity

All incoming goods are required to have a Certificate of Analysis a corresponding specification, correct import documentation and certificates where required.

 

Product Testing

Since 2007 Gee Lawson has had their own PSL machine which enables us to internally test our incoming goods. Through our experience of testing every shipment for a period of over 3 years we have placed products into high risk, medium risk and low risk categories. Low risk items we will test 1 in 10 batches, Medium risk 1 in 3 batches and high risk every batch. If a material fails PSL we will inform the supplier and make arrangements for sample to be TL tested at an external lab.


We offer this PSL service to customers to use and many utilize this.
