Latest research on XanMax shows promising results on Eye Health.

Vision deterioration is not necessarily a consequence of aging alone. The human eye is continuously exposed to different wavelengths and intensities of light which can also result in deterioration. There are many elements including Lifestyle, smoking, alcohol consumption, prolonged exposure to blue light (due to the usage of mobile phones, laptops, etc.), UV damage, diabetes and obesity which can also cause visual impairment.

Oxidative stress results in diverse changes to retinal organs and tissues and according to research, macular pigments (lutein and zeaxanthin) existent in the central macular region, provide protection from photo damage by absorbing blue light and also, thanks to their anti-oxidant activity.

Ocular photo toxicity is thus mitigated by our efficient anti-oxidant system, in both the youth and elderly. Among all the various carotenoids, only lutein and zeaxanthin have been known to accumulate in the macula, providing beneficial effects as anti-oxidants. Therefore supplementation with these carotenoids may be important for maintaining optimal eye health. 

A recent study published by Katra Phytochem, shows that regular supplementation with XanMax® 2002 oil (special lutein and zeaxanthin combination) extracted from Marigold flowers, may help to maintain a healthy macula through deposition of optimal levels of carotenoid pigments and antioxidative enzymes. Furthermore, a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, parallel pilot study (awaiting for pubblication) carried out in 60 elderly volunteers to evaluate the efficacy of XanMax® 2002 in improving MPOD levels, has shown promising results in this area.
